Ross Chastain became the driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Trackhouse Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2022. His competitive spirit was on full display throughout the season, as he climbed up the leaderboard with wins at Talladega and the Circuit of Americas Road Course.
In the penultimate race of 2022 at Martinsville, Ross made a miracle move known as the "hail melon" to secure a spot in the Championship 4, capping off a remarkable inaugural year with Trackhouse Racing, finishing second overall.
Chastain completed the 2023 season with two Cup Series wins.
He captured his first career Cup Series pole award at Nashville Superspeedway in Tennessee where he went on to win his first race of the year. He followed that up by winning the season finale at Phoenix Raceway in Arizona. He finished ninth in point standings.

In 2022, Phil Surgen joined the Trackhouse Racing Team as crew chief for the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driven by Ross Chastain. He came with stellar experience but had not yet tasted victory lane. That was all soon to change when Chastain and the team claimed victory first at the Circuit of the Americas and then again in Talladega, ultimately placing second in the Championship 4.
